Cleared4 by NIVHA
How it works

One paired iPad, one collector, one sitting

Cleared4 follows the same collection procedure NIVHA uses in person. The difference is that the collector directs it over live video while a briefed colleague at your site handles the kit.

The page the person being tested sees on their own phone: reference, where and when, tests, collector, medication question and what to expect.

The session, step by step

The collector moves the kiosk from one step to the next. Nothing is skipped and nothing runs ahead of the person on the call.

  1. Company admin

    Raise the request

Sign in to the kiosk with your PIN, pick the person (or add them), the reason and the tests. The request appears on the NIVHA collector queue immediately.

  2. NIVHA collector

    Claim and connect

A collector claims the request and the kiosk shows who is coming and how long they need. The video call starts on the iPad; the person being tested can also join from their own phone using the link they are sent.

  3. Collector and person being tested

    Identity, privacy notice and consent

The collector checks photo ID on camera. The privacy notice is shown and the consent statements are played as a recording, then confirmed by the person being tested. The session is video recorded throughout and the recording is explained before consent.

  4. Remote Collection Assistant

    Pre-test checks

The assistant confirms the room, the sealed kit and the breath tester under the collector's instruction. Medication in the last seven days is asked about and recorded.

  5. Person being tested

    Oral fluid drug screen

The person being tested collects their own oral fluid sample following the collector's directions. The cassette is placed in view of the camera and the collector times the read.

  6. Remote Collection Assistant

    Breath alcohol test

The assistant fits a fresh mouthpiece and holds the tester for the person being tested. The collector records the reading in mg/L and applies your company's alcohol policy to it.

  7. Collector

    Results, declarations and signatures

The collector reads the drug screen and breath result on camera, explains what each means and takes the closing declarations. The person being tested signs; the collector countersigns.

  8. Company admin

    Record and next steps

The screening results and the full record appear in your Cleared4 account. If a screen is non-negative, NIVHA arranges laboratory confirmation under chain of custody and the collector explains the interim position to everyone on the call.

Two results, not one

Drug screen and breath test are reported separately

Cleared4 reports a drug result and a breath result rather than a single overall outcome, because they mean different things and lead to different next steps. The drug screen is reported as negative or non-negative; the breath test is a pass or a fail against your own policy level, with the reading kept in mg/L.

Either can also be recorded as invalid, unable to provide or refused, each with the collector's reason, so the record is honest about what actually happened.

What you need on site

An iPad on a stand

Any recent iPad with a camera, kept on charge and connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. NIVHA pairs it to your account; no App Store download is needed.

A private room

Somewhere the person being tested can be seen and heard clearly, with a table for the kit. The collector runs through a short pre-test checklist with the assistant before anything is opened.

Kits and a breath tester

NIVHA supplies sealed oral fluid screening kits, mouthpieces and a calibrated breath tester, and keeps the calibration record for you.

Want to see the collector's side?

In a demo we run a mock session end to end so you can see the kiosk, the collector console and the record together.
